Just You and Your Self-Esteem

I saw you walking by...
Your head was down, as usual
I always wondered why you look down on yourself
I didn't think it was possible to have a self-esteem that low
I wanted to stop the car, get out, go to you, and raise your chin up
I wanted to hug you and tell you, while cupping your cheeks,
"You are worth more than you think."

  1. Your work gives me a peek at your soul. You have a good and charitable soul. You see the beauty in others. God bless you.

  2. My previous manager always tells me that last line and it gets me every time. It's such a booster of spirit and esteem. Hugging also makes us feel loved and cared for.

  3. My motto is no matter what happens... Keep your chin up! it is so important sometimes to break from routine, stop and tell someone to pick themselves up. We cannot understand the power but it can do wonders!

  4. A short poem but it strikes a chord on those who have been thinking of themselves less than others. My heart goes out to them and I, too, want to lift them up so they will see the beauty within them.

  5. Beautiful words. Very encouraging esp when someone reads it when they're feeling low.

  6. I guess if one's head is down, it may suggest he has a problem, not necessarily self-esteem. Maybe he is just tired or hungry. Hehe. But seriously, thank you for caring for him.

  8. Self-confident must be instilled for us during childhood years while we we were still growing up. In fact, self-esteem and self-confident are enterwined with each other to mold one's personality that could manage by itself within their motivation to mature.

  9. I guess you'll have to be the one to lift their self esteem. We really should have confidence and belief that we'll be ok.

  10. Well said. A lot of people these days, especially the younger generation have very little love for themselves and they value other people's opinions too much that their self esteem gets affected in such a harmful way.
